Aino began because our family had always dealt with skin issues — acne, psoriasis and dry skin. The right treatments helped to some extent, but when we spoke with dermatologists, something became clear: the skin does most of its repair work at night, and the environment and the fabric we sleep on shapes that healing far more than we realised.
That insight pushed us to look into the science of sleep. Sleep experts explained that stable temperature is one of the strongest predictors of uninterrupted deep sleep — and deep sleep is when both the skin barrier and nervous system regenerate most actively. Fabrics that trap heat or moisture can interfere with this cycle; materials that remain cool and breathable can support it. This is why dermatologists often recommend silk, with its long, smooth fibroin fibres and naturally low moisture absorption. Scientifically, these properties are well-documented.
But when we started testing different silk products, we ran into a different problem: much of what is sold as “silk” simply isn’t real silk. We found that many “silk” products were actually satin, polyester or chemically treated blends — materials that lack the qualities of true mulberry silk. So we went directly to silk farms, choosing producers who could guarantee purity, and ran hundreds of tests to source silk of the highest standard.
The first people to experience that difference were us. Nights felt cooler. Sleep was deeper. Over the weeks, our skin improved. The impact was quiet but undeniable — and this quality became the foundation for all our products.
We now create textiles that are genuinely good for our skin — supporting cooler temperatures, calmer skin and a cleaner environment. Products you use every single day and night, making them one of the smartest investments you can do.
